Understanding The Flea by John Donne through Comparison
In 16th century, William Shakespeare created many sonnet formed poems that is spread around Europe during Renaissance from Petrarch. And Shakespeare’s great literary works have influenced to numerous writers worldwide including John Donne. Shakespeare and John Donne who was influenced by Shakespeare have some similarities and differences with his major literary works, sonnet. Then, following writings are about my comparative analysis through their representative literary works ‘sonnet 18’ by Shakespeare and ‘The Flea’ by John Donne. Similarities and differences can be found each in ‘formal viewpoint’ and ‘theme’. Moreover, I’ll deal with unusual relation between ‘flea’ and love poem in John Donne’s The Flea more deeply.
